SEN Teaching Assistant

We are inviting applications for the role of SEN Teaching Assistant at a supportive SEN school in Wakefield. This position is ideal for individuals with a strong background in assisting children with complex mental and physical disabilities. Day to Day of the Role:
  • Provide individualised support to students with a range of special educational needs.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to implement effective strategies and Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Engage with students to facilitate their academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Adapt teaching materials and methods to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of students, maintaining clear records of development.
  • Assist with the personal care needs of students when necessary.
  • Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience or qualifications in supporting children with various mental and physical disabilities.
  • Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant is preferred but not essential.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges faced by children with SEN and a commitment to inclusive education.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
  • A patient, empathetic approach and the resilience to handle challenging situations.
  • A proactive attitude towards professional development and learning new skills.
  • An enhanced DBS check will be required for the successful candidate.
