Position Overview: As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in providing individualized support and guidance to students with SEN, helping them overcome challenges and reach their full potential. Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals, you will create a positive and inclusive classroom environment where every student feels valued and supported. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing one-on-one support to students with SEN, both in the classroom and during structured activities
  • Assisting in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and personalized learning strategies
  • Supporting students with sensory, communication, or behavioral difficulties, ensuring their needs are met effectively
  • Collaborating with teachers to adapt lesson materials and activities to suit the needs of individual students
  • Promoting inclusivity and positive peer interactions, fostering a sense of belonging and acceptance among all students

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with SEN is desirable but not essential
  • Compassion, patience, and a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of students with SEN
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools) would be advantageous
  • Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to respond effectively to the evolving needs of students and the school community
