Lead SEMH Teacher (September Start)

Job Purpose: As the Lead SEMH Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in fostering excellence in teaching and learning within your designated pod. Your responsibilities include:

Teaching and Learning:

  • Implementing effective teaching strategies tailored to the needs of students in your pod.
  • Monitoring teaching quality and providing constructive feedback and support to staff.
  • Serving as a mentor and coach to enhance teaching standards.
  • Analysing data to track student progress and achievement, reporting findings to the Headteacher and Governors.

Recording and Assessment:

  • Establishing systems for target setting and assessment.
  • Facilitating smooth transitions for mid-term admissions.
  • Utilizing assessment data to inform intervention strategies and raise achievement levels.

Leadership and Management:

  • Reporting progress and achievements to school leadership and Governors.
  • Providing training and development opportunities for staff.
  • Promoting best practices and fostering collaboration within the school community.
  • Leading the team of teachers and Teaching Assistants, overseeing performance development.
  • Ensuring efficient implementation of EHCPs and monitoring attendance within your pod.
  • Establishing and nurturing partnerships with stakeholders, including Governors, LA's, and neighboring schools.

Key Organisational Objectives: In addition to your primary responsibilities, you will contribute to the school's objectives and service delivery by championing health and safety, safeguarding, equality, and standards improvement.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with experience in SEMH or SEN education.
  • Proven leadership abilities with a track record of driving educational excellence.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to utilize data effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
