About the Role:

GSL Education is currently seeking to appoint a qualified and enthusiastic SEN TA -SEMH to undertake a position at one of our client primary schools in Sheffield. A teacher working with students with special educational needs and mental health needs in primary schools play a vital role in creating inclusive and supportive learning environments, promoting the well-being and academic success of all students. Seize this chance to influence the next generation's development within GSL's creative and collaborative teaching atmosphere, receiving valuable support along the way.

Key Responsibilities:

  • As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing one-to-one support and assistance to students with special educational needs.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs, both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans and Behavior Support Plans to address specific student needs.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and respected.
  • Collaborate effectively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to ensure a coordinated approach to student support.
  • Monitor student progress and behavior, providing feedback to the teaching team as needed.

The successful candidate will:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs is highly desirable.
  • A positive attitude, patience, and resilience in the face of challenges.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in education, psychology, or a related would be advantageous.
