  • Location: Rural Lewes area
  • Job Type: Temporary (to cover absence)

We are seeking an experienced SENCO to join a reputable special school in the rural Lewes area. The role is to start as soon as possible and will continue until the end of the academic year. This is an essential position ensuring the provision of high-quality support for children with special educational needs.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of the school’s SEN policy.
  • Coordinate provision for children with special educational needs.
  • Liaise with parents, teachers, and other professionals who are involved with the children.
  • Advise on the graduated approach to providing SEN support.
  • Ensure that the school keeps the records of all pupils with SEN up to date.
  • Work with the senior management team to ensure that the school meets its responsibilities under the Equality Act (2010) with regard to reasonable adjustments and access arrangements.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Level 7 SENCO qualification.
  • Previous experience with EHCPs and working closely with families.
  • A strong focus on prioritising the needs and development of children.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.
