Are you a qualified and experienced secondary teacher who can work with challenging and vulnerable young people in a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) setting? If so, we have a rewarding opportunity for you at a specialist provision in Ebbw Vale.

The school is a specialist provision for pupils aged 11 to 16 who have been excluded or are at risk of exclusion from mainstream education. We offer a safe and supportive environment where pupils can access a broad and balanced curriculum that meets their individual needs and prepares them for their next steps. We have a skilled and committed team of staff who work in partnership with parents, carers and other agencies to ensure the best outcomes for our pupils.

We are looking for a full-time secondary teacher who can join us from 19th February 2024, after the half term break. You will be responsible for teaching a range of subjects across the key stages, with a focus on English, maths and science. You will also be expected to manage behaviour, assess progress and provide pastoral care for your pupils. This is a long term, ongoing position with the potential for a permanent placement for the right candidate.

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Experience of working with pupils with SEMH/BESD or similar needs in a PRU or alternative provision setting
  • A strong subject knowledge and pedagogy
  • A resilient and adaptable personality
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • A willingness to learn and grow as a teacher
