SEMH Teacher

Full-time, Permanent

Start Date: September 2024!

As an SEMH Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in supporting students with diverse learning needs, particularly those experiencing challenges related to mental health. You will work collaboratively with other educators, support staff, and external agencies to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where every student feels valued, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality teaching and learning experiences tailored to meet the individual needs of students with SEMH requirements.
  • Implement effective strategies and interventions to support students' social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Work closely with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and other relevant stakeholders to develop and review individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans (BSPs).
  • Foster positive relationships with students, parents/carers, and external agencies to promote collaborative partnership working and holistic support.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, achievements, and interventions, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and school policies.
  • Contribute to the wider school community through participation in meetings, professional development activities, and school events.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience working with students with SEMH needs within a school setting, preferably in a mainstream or special educational needs (SEN) environment.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of SEMH issues, including behavioural challenges and mental health conditions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships and communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
