Academics are seeking a number of Support Workers to work at our Client School in Southend-On-Sea starting as soon as possible. If you are currently a Support Worker, with an interest of working in the education sector, this job may be for you.

Support Worker Responsibilities:

  • Supporting children and young people with a range of SEMH needs, including trauma, depression, anxiety and social, emotional, and mental health needs.
  • Promoting independence where possible, supporting life skills such as cooking and everyday finances.
  • Managing behaviours within the classroom and being aware of triggers, using de-escalation techniques.

Support Worker Requirements:

  • Hold a Level 2 qualification or higher, such as an NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care.
  • Have at least 6 months experience supporting children or young people with additional needs in a care of school setting.
  • Be a strong and engaging communicator.
  • Be compassionate, caring, and have a genuine desire to help young people overcome their barriers.
  • Hold a DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through Academics
