SEMH Teaching Assistant | Lewisham, South East London | ASAP Start

A lovely mainstream primary school based in Lewisham are looking for a specialist behaviour and trauma teaching assistant to join their team. The school is located right in the centre of Lewisham, and thrives off the busy atmosphere and dynamic culture of the city it is in.

The role

As an SEMH teaching assistant at this school, you will be expected to provide excellent care and promote all students to improve behaviour through educational vices whilst also supporting and managing social and emotional needs.

You will be based in the classroom, but your duties will go beyond helping improve grades. You will be working 1:1 with a KS2 student with a purpose to help the student feel accepted in their differences and channel new outlooks to feed an exceptional future. The leadership believes that there are no "bad" kids, just impressionable, conflicted young people wrestling emotions and impulses. The student based in this school is battling stigmas and you would help create an environment safe enough for them to find new ways to communicate and process these feelings.
