The hours of work would be: 11:50am-1:20pm or 12:00pm-1:30pm

Duties of a Lunchtime Supervisor:

  • Each supervisor will be allocated areas, activities and a class/group of children for whom he/she will be responsible. Although the duties will be divided so that each lunchtime supervisor looks after a specific group or area each day he/she must be prepared to accept a variation if an emergency occurs or another lunchtime supervisor is away.

  • The main areas of work will be the dining room, the playground and/or other areas of the school used during the lunchtime break, including those areas where the children line up for their meals.
  • A good standard of behaviour is expected and it is important that this should be maintained throughout the lunchtime period, which should be a pleasant time for all concerned.

Supervision of the Dining Area:

  • Supervision of pupils waiting to eat in the dining area.
  • Overseeing the children’s behaviour whilst they eat their meal, providing drinks upon request and helping to maintain a calm atmosphere.
  • Ensure that any spillage is removed quickly.
  • Oversee the return of used plates, bowls, cups and cutlery by the children.
  • Ensure the children leave the tables/floor clean for the next occupant.
  • See that the dining area is left clean and tidy at the end of lunchtime (cleaning, sweeping floors & removing tables after the children have finished eating).
