Location: Hertfordshire & Dynamic Working Hours

Salary: Up to £85,000 + Generous Bonus & Very Good Pension Package

Experience needed: We are looking for an experienced technical specialist who is capable of leading a team of software engineers and has strong knowledge of mobile/satellite communications. This is a relatively new function within the company and the person in this role would have plenty of scope to help define the direction of the team, its protocols and technical design. Due to the complexity of the work in our business, the candidate would need to have experience of working at a high-technology engineering/manufacturing company in an industry such as defence, aerospace, automotive, robotics, electronics, space, avionics etc…

We are currently looking for a Satellite Communications Software Technical Lead to join our Real Time Datalink Software team who supply Datalink software into our products and platforms which require a method of communicating over the air. As well as working within the software team you will also be expected to work closely with Firmware, Systems, Hardware and Test Engineers and respective leads.

We are looking for people who are experienced in or have an interest in:

• Experience of mobile/satellite communications and their associated protocols
• Ability to technically lead a team of software engineers
• Software Defined Radio
• Network architectures
• Communication Protocols (e.g. SPI, UART, Ethernet, PCI-Express)
• Communication systems, communication theory, digital signal processing (DSP, embedded firmware)
• Knowledge of wireless protocols such as 5G NR, LTE and 802.11
• Knowledge of Mesh Networking and associated protocols e.g. AODV
• Knowledge of Radio interfaces and an understanding of different modulation/ demodulation techniques.
• Software Design methodologies (e.g. UML)
• Ability to work proactively as part of a larger multi-disciplinary team
• System integration and performance analysis
• Ability to communicate at the client level in meetings and presentations
