Location: Earls Court, SW10 9LZ

Type: Temporary, with potential for temp-perm.

Duration: 6 months (May to November 2024)

Hourly Pay Rate: £14-£16 per hour, plus bonus*
*Bonus will be paid on completion of 3 months (£150) and 6 months (£350) in post

Shift (Days): 5 days per week Monday - Saturday*
*Day off in the week (excl. Monday and Saturday)

Hours: 7.30am to 6pm on weekdays; 7.30am to 14:30pm on Saturdays*
*Option for flexibility in shift pattern/hours

About the Role: Beyond Service to Sales Excellence

As the assistant store manager of a flagship Royal Mail Parcelshop, your role transcends traditional customer service. Yes, you will provide stellar service, manage transactions, and ensure our products are showcased perfectly. But there’s more. You will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to recognize opportunities for upselling - guiding our customers towards products and services that not only meet their needs but enhance their satisfaction and our revenue.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Delivering exceptional customer service, setting the stage for upsell opportunities.
  • Engaging with customers to understand their needs, offering solutions that add value beyond their initial request.
  • Processing purchases and managing a variety of transactions, with an eye towards promoting additional products or services.
  • Maintaining an in-depth knowledge of our products including new and seasonal offerings, to effectively suggest alternatives and add-ons.
  • Balancing store management in support of the Retail Store Manager with strategic selling initiatives, ensuring a seamless customer experience while driving sales.
  • Managing a small number of retail staff to deliver excellent customer service.
  • Perform Acting Store Manager duties in the absence of Store Manager.

We’re searching for someone with an exceptional retail background, who not only excels in customer service but also possesses a keen sense for opportunities to enhance customer purchases. Your ability to engage customers, coupled with a proactive approach to upselling, will make you a pivotal player in our team.

You Bring:

  • A proven track record in retail, with additional experience or aptitude in sales preferred.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to tailor suggestions to individual customer needs, enhancing their experience and delivering real value.
  • A proactive, detail-oriented approach, taking pride in the quality of your work and its impact on company success.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, ready to shift gears between customer service and sales strategies as needed.
  • Proven Retail Store Management experience or similar.
