Tradewind are currently working with a great PRU School in Walsall that specialises in providing Specialist Independent Education to children and adults with complex needs including learning difficulties, autistic spectrum conditions, SEMH and disabilities. Their provisions offer both day and residential placements and applications.

The school are looking to appoint Residential Support Workers to work closely with a young person, helping them to feel safe, respected, confident, and capable of achieving their best. The successful candidate will have a great character and a desire to make a positive impact on young people's lives.

This position would suit those with care experience who are looking to develop their career. Nevertheless, if you are looking to pursue a career in care, education, or psychology you will join a friendly and supportive team that excels in the career development of its staff. This is a full-time position starting from April. The working hours would be 8:30 - 3:30 and you will be required to make home visits.

Prospective candidates should be able to demonstrate:

  • A patient, caring, compassionate and child-centred approach.
  • Excellent observation skills and the ability to problem solve and think creatively to enable their children and young people to reach their full potential.
  • Emotional intelligence and resilience with the ability to react calmly in challenging situations.

Applicants must have:

  • Recognised Level 3 Diploma Children and Young People's Workforce - Social Care Pathway or desire to work towards within two years of appointment.
  • Full, clean driving licence.
  • Ability to carry out domestic duties as required.
  • Be able to physically engage with CALM physical intervention and restraint

  • Ability to undertake a full range of care duties in a sensitive manner (including personal/ intimate care, and supporting a range of leisure activities i.e. long walks, swimming (the children are active and need supporting through their activities).
