Position Overview: As a Residential Child Care Officer (Agency), you'll play a crucial role in nurturing and supporting children and young people who are looked after by the Government of Jersey. Working as part of a dedicated team, you'll provide high-quality care to children living in our homes, ensuring they have a safe and nurturing environment to thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the management and development of services for young people living in our homes.
  • Collaborate with young people, their families, and other professionals to meet their needs effectively.
  • Implement organizational strategies to achieve the objectives of Children Services.
  • Foster teamwork and promote team development within your unit.
  • Advocate for children in multi-agency contexts, ensuring their voices are heard and respected.
  • Maintain accurate records and support care planning.
  • Actively participate in home meetings, involving children in decision-making processes.
  • Commit to ongoing training and professional development.
  • Ensure a safe and nurturing environment for children.
  • Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Follow Child Protection and safeguarding procedures.
  • Perform other duties as required by the Registered Manager or Service Lead.

Qualifications:

  • GCSE Grade C or above in English and Maths (or equivalent).
  • QCF Level 3 or similar qualification (desirable).
  • Awareness of child protection and safeguarding practices.
  • Basic IT skills (Word, Email).
  • Possession of a valid driving license (desirable).
  • Knowledge of other languages (desirable).

Experience:

  • Moderate physical effort, including activities with children and daily tasks.
  • Concentration required during key working sessions and meetings.
  • Emotional resilience to handle challenging situations.
