We're proud to partner with a respected children's residential care provider dedicated to nurturing children's growth and well-being. Their homes in Exeter, like this one, offer a safe and welcoming space for up to three children. With cozy bedrooms and inviting communal areas including a lounge, dining area, and study, there's plenty of room for relaxation and study.
  
Outside, a spacious garden awaits, complete with comfy furniture and vibrant flowers and plants, providing a peaceful retreat for the children. From lawn space to a patio and even a veggie patch, the garden offers opportunities for outdoor activities and connection with nature.
  
Their aim is to create a supportive environment where children can flourish emotionally, academically, and socially, both indoors and out.
  
Key Responsibilities of the Residential Support Worker:
  • Deliver day-to-day care and support to children and young people within a residential setting, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social needs are met.
  • Foster a safe and nurturing atmosphere, promoting positive relationships and cultivating a sense of belonging.
  • Encourage and facilitate the development of essential life skills, independence, and positive decision-making.
  • Support children and young people in their educational journey, assisting with homework, and fostering a positive attitude towards learning.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and external professionals involved in the care of the children, ensuring effective communication and a holistic approach to support.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in adherence to regulatory standards and company policies.
  • Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and supervision to enhance professional development and share best practices. 
Qualifications and Requirements: 
  • Prior experience working with children and young people in a residential care setting is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Demonstrated compassion and empathy, with a genuine interest in the well-being and development of children and young people.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to forge positive relationships with children, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
  • Resilience, patience, and the capacity to remain composed in challenging circumstances.
  • A commitment to promoting the welfare and safeguarding of children and young people.
  • Flexibility to work on a shift basis, including weekends and evenings.
  • Minimum age requirement of 21 years (due to legislative requirements).
