HOURS OF WORK: 9 am - 5.30 pm, Monday to Friday

Due to organic growth and continued success, our client, a full-service legal 500 Law firm, is looking for a Residential Conveyancing Paralegal to join their team in Manchester City Centre. The successful candidate will support the Fee Earners, covering freehold and leasehold properties and provide a high level of client care. If you are in the process of studying for your LLM or LPC or if you already possess the qualification, we will welcome your CV.

Primary Purpose of the role:

Reporting directly to a fee earner or fee earners, provide support to them and the team as directed

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Assisting a solicitor with caseloads of Residential cases on the development side of the property team, from instruction to completion
  • Updating solicitors and/or partners in the team on the progression of all matters on a regularly
  • Drafting and amending relevant documents, i.e. Contracts, Transfer Deeds;
  • Undertaking various searches for each Property and checking the results of the searches for any adverse information;
  • Ordering searches and reviewing search results
  • Checking ID’s
  • Preparing and collating documents for title packs and reports on title
  • Responsible for checking Search results and Mortgage Offers
  • Preparing engrossments for contracts and transfers
  • Land Registry applications and bankruptcy searches
  • Maintain a business diary detailing client appointments and critical dates
  • Ensuring that requisite documents are signed on completion, i.e. legal charge, declaration of the mortgagee(s), transfer deeds;
  • Attending to post-completion formalities, undertaking all registrations and dealing with any issues raised as a result;
  • Anti-Money Laundering checks include checking on the firm’s database if already a current client or if a new client is requesting the relevant identification by sending a letter or telephone call asking for the information;
  • Chasing up clients, lenders and other solicitors to ensure the progression of each matter and that deadlines are met by using the electronic diary;
  • General administration, i.e. photocopying and filing;

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

The skills required to undertake the above job description are as follows:-

  • Minimum experience of 6 months in Property, either Commercial Residential Conveyancing
  • Legal background, with a knowledge of the conveyancing process of sales and purchase transactions;
  • Good IT skills, i.e. as Word and Outlook;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Good telephone manners;
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines;
  • Ability to plan and prioritise work;
  • Self-motivated;
  • Ability to work in a planned and organised way, but can multitask
  • Professional approach
  • Knowledge of legal Case Management systems.
