The role of the Repairs Inspector is responsible for back office control, providing solutions and direct resolution with issues. They report direct to the Operations Manager.

The role is to provide full support to the technical and managerial team as well as deputising for other team members and management in a number of key areas such as direction of the team, contractor performance and budget management of any works excluded from the repairs contract.

The Surveyor in will also help obtain competitive quotes for larger repair works, commission consultants to advice on structural or specialist areas of work as necessary and supervise void and structural works on site. This is a Priority 1 post for the repairs team to ensure that repairs are turned around correctly in the shortest period possible to ensure that issues do not develop into breach disrepair.

Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week

UK Driving licence is require for the role.

  • To provide technical and specialist support to the Repairs and maintenance service in relation to property maintenance.
  • To carry out inspections on all council properties when required and report on any health and safety issues and ensure appropriate action is taken to address these.
  • Responsible for the organising response to, mobilising necessary resources and resolving major repair works in relation to fires, floods, insurance claims, complaints and disrepair claims.
  • Responsible for investigating any structural problem, arranging for structural surveys, and arranging any remedial works or safety works as necessary.
  • Deciding on the best technical solution and the extent of repair work to be undertaken by the service provider or specialist contractors and that completed work is of an acceptable standard.
  • To assist in the delivery of a comprehensive repairs service to ensure we meet our landlord obligations, meet the needs of residents and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Responsible for supporting the delivery of a high quality, resident focused repairs and maintenance service, working with residents and other agencies, contractors and consultants.
  • Improving the quality of life of the residents by dealing effectively with and completing repairs and targeting damp issues and any health impacting repairs.
  • Maintain and improve the quality of resident's homes to increase individual and community pride, health and well being of residents and secure best value from key assets
  • Making sustainable and visible improvements to our housing stock through effective estate and property inspections and the timely completion of the repair works.
  • Expected to attend court as the Tenancy Teams expert witness on eviction matters
