The Role:
We're creating a new role to help develop our strategy for the Renewables department. The Renewable Design Engineer will build on the efforts of the Renewables Technical Sales team, branch networks, and direct customers. Its main focus is to provide expert technical support to secure business in the growing market of sustainable heating. Additionally, the role involves working on internal projects to assist colleagues and facilitate the transition to making renewable energy product sales a regular part of our operations.
The design team is facing increased demands due to significant growth in the UK's renewable energy product market and a rise in inquiries and sales. As part of our transformation to make renewables sales accessible to all branches and specialisms, the role will involve creating, maintaining, and supporting various tools and resources. These resources will be used across the business to help everyone effectively sell renewable energy products.
Key Responsibilities

Design and specify integrated renewable technologies for CPS customers, creating comprehensive solutions through in-house design or outsourcing, followed by thorough checks and organisation.
Calculate HVAC heating and domestic hot water designs following regulations and guidelines. Share clear design data with customers for a full understanding of the project.
Collaborate with CPS suppliers to stay informed about new products within CPS's scope. Determine how these products can be incorporated into our existing offerings, considering design and technical aspects.
Working with CPS digital and web teams to ensure listings contain all relevant and useful information about products and kit builders etc. are kept up to date as product range evolves.
Ensure all educational resources about renewable energy products are kept up to date, use frequent queries  as feedback to further improve resources.
Working closely with CPS renewables sales team, provide training and support on tools and resources produced.
Liaise with CPS solar PV team to coordinate development of integrated renewable energy systems for design work and for colleague support.
Contribute to production of marketing material, for internal and external audiences, showing off the technical excellence of the City Plumbing Renewables Technical team.
This is a hybrid-based opportunity with up to 2 days per week in the office.

You:
You’ll live and breathe our customer-first ethos, with a Technical and proactive approach to Design Engineering. You’ll enjoy working collaboratively with the wider Technical Design team and you’ll be committed to acting with integrity and honesty in everything you do
Skills and competencies

Either an Engineering, Science or Maths degree OR a background in Plumbing and Heating sector looking to transition into Renewables.
Good design skills and the ability to work to multiple deadlines.
Numerate and able to grasp physical concepts.
Superb communication skills and able to translate and communicate technical information in a way that is easy for the reader to understand.

It would also be great if you have some knowledge or an awareness of the following:

Building regulations (parts G, F, and L)
Pt P, IEE electrical standard / regulations. NICEIC regulations.
British Standards for both building fabric & working knowledge of MCS regulations / MIS3005 calculations.
Renewable Government incentive schemes.
Building services design, both mechanical and electrical.
