Relief Duty Manager
Locations - The main location for this role will be Hythe (40%) but you will support at 2 other venues within Mid Kent.
Salary - Starting at £28,000 - £38,000 per annum depending on experience
Permanent - 5 days out of 7, 50 hours per week
Benefits - Annual leave of 21 days per annum + bank holidays in lieu, free parking, free meals on duty, annual pay reviews, uniform allowance, and company pension & competitive salary

A most fantastic and exciting opportunity has just become available working for an exceptional client who offers some of the most exceptional wedding venues in Kent that suit every style and occasion. The venues are stunning and the event is coordinated by an experienced team we are looking for a Relief Duty Manager to become a part of their amazing team!

The role is demanding in both detail and planning, the hours average 10-12 hours per shift. Would ideally suit someone with a great record of accomplishment in hospitality and event planning or who has worked within a hotel, bar or restaurant setting.

This role is based 40% in Hythe and 60% between 2 other sites Mid in Kent.

Responsibilities of Relief Duty Manager

  • Ensure the venue is clear and clean and all tables and lighting is working and suitable for the event
  • Promote a positive working environment within the team and locale to ensure all events executed are done so with energy, passion and the client's experience paramount to the day
  • Ensuring all food and beverages are suitable, to standard and event, served and stored correctly
  • Manage and oversee the opening and closing of the event, ensuring the company brand is held to a high standard
  • Liaising with the onsite team regarding the timeline of the day
  • Coordinating and managing reception drinks with catering and bar staff
  • Communicating all table drink requirements to catering staff before the wedding breakfast
  • Coordinating smooth running of the bar during the whole day
  • Dispensing of the toasting drinks ready for speeches and managing beverage stock levels and availability
  • Managing reception room turnaround in preparation for the evening celebrations
  • Handing over from the onsite team
  • Coordinating cutting of the cake with the photographer and Bride & Groom as well as the first dance with the DJ
  • Oversee the cake is put out by catering staff and taken home as agreed
  • Ensuring operational coverage of the bar during the evening, including working on the bar in busy periods and allowing for staff breaks
  • Oversee all live music and band compliance e.g. take sound readings, doors closed if required
  • Preparing the venue for the next event, including pre-ordered drinks, backup ceremony area set up, and plans for the reception room
  • Cashing up the bar, turn around the reception room
  • Ensuring all items are organised for the bridal party to collect at the end of the night or the next day as agreed by the onsite team.
  • Organise dirty linen into linen bags and place in the linen bin ready for collection

Person Specification for the Role of Relief Duty Manager

  • Must hold at least one year's experience in event/hospitality management at venue level
  • A working knowledge of the drinks industry and trends is a base requirement for the role
  • Candidate would require an extremely good level of communication, both written and verbal to succeed in this role
  • Candidates must hold a minimum of GCSE grade 4 or above in Maths & English to be considered for this role
  • Knowledge of EPOS systems would be desirable for this role
  • Must be able to organise and lead a team with the client's experience paramount in their goals
  • A flexible approach and ability to drive success is a key skill for this role
  • Must be able to adapt and be proactive when demands change for this role
  • Must be a natural communicator with a strong team mentality.
