Summary

We’re looking for a Ranger to join our team to lead community work on the estate for Peckover House. If you’re well organised with bags of initiative and good at developing relationships, then this could be the ideal role for you.

This role is required to work with vulnerable groups including children and any offer of employment or volunteering is subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS check.

This role has kindly been funded by The National Lottery Community Fund.

What it's like to work here

Working across the Peckover Estate in Wisbech, you'll have a focus on working with the communities in Wisbech to manage and enhance the 68-acre estate. You’ll join a small but ambitious team, with an emphasis on delivering our Everyone Welcome Ambition. You’ll assist in all aspects of a Ranger role such as habitat management, estate maintenance, wildlife surveying and community engagement.

What you'll be doing

We're embedding a programme of community and partnership working with local groups, and we want to do more - you’ll be the driving force behind building connections to future partners as well as maintaining existing partnerships. With your enthusiasm for our work, you’ll help with the protection and care of habitats, wildlife and land management, and your commitment will inspire others to love this beautiful place as much as you do.

You’ll engage with our local communities, tenants, and neighbours, making time to talk to them. You’ll be adept at tailoring your style and tone to meet the needs of different teams and people.

You’ll share our common goal with community partners and build relationships in the local community, proudly representing the National Trust. So, whether you’re maintaining our green spaces or assisting with access or delivering a wide range of activities, no two days will be the same.

You’ll lead an exciting programme of activities co-produced with the community. You’ll also increase engagement opportunities for children to connect with nature and their community through trails and help more children to reach their potential by supporting schools to use the land. Leading training, skills development, and day placement opportunities you’ll enable people to develop new skills that could lead to employment.

You’ll support opportunities for more people to get involved with maintaining and actively improving their local green spaces.

Please see the role profile and context form attached.
