Our client is a leading National Main Contractor specialising in large-scale Commercial Build projects across the UK. With a proven track record of delivering high-quality developments and headquartered just outside of Glasgow, with a number of schemes in the area, they are looking to add a Quantity Surveyor to the team.

Location: Glasgow, United Kingdom

Role Overview: As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a pivotal role in the successful delivery of various large-scale Commercial Build schemes. You will be responsible for ensuring that projects are completed within budgetary constraints while maintaining the highest standards of quality and compliance with regulations. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Cost Management: Manage project budgets from inception to completion, conducting regular cost analysis and forecasts to ensure projects remain financially viable.
  2. Procurement: Oversee procurement activities, including tendering, negotiating contracts with suppliers and subcontractors, and ensuring value for money.
  3. Contract Administration: Administer contracts effectively, ensuring compliance with contractual terms and conditions, as well as managing variations and claims.
  4. Risk Management: Identify potential risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle, implementing strategies to mitigate risks and maximise project outcomes.
  5. Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and final accounts, to support informed decision-making.
  6. Collaboration: Collaborate closely with project teams, including architects, engineers, contractors, and clients, to ensure seamless project delivery and effective communication.
  7. Quality Assurance: Monitor and maintain quality standards throughout the construction process, conducting regular site visits and inspections to uphold excellence in workmanship and materials.
  8. Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety regulations, industry standards, and legal requirements, promoting a safe working environment for all stakeholders.
  9. Client Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, addressing any concerns or queries promptly and professionally to enhance client satisfaction and loyalty.
  10. Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry developments, best practices, and innovations in Quantity Surveying, contributing to the continuous improvement of processes and procedures within the organisation.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field (RICS accreditation preferred).
  • Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry, with a focus on Commercial Build projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts, procurement methods, and cost management techniques.
  • Proficiency in relevant software applications, such as MS Excel, AutoCAD, and Quantity Surveying software.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to liaise effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
