Hayley Group Limited have a Quality Inspector vacancy to join our well-established and experienced team based at our Manchester branch in our Rail Division. You will join us on a full time, permanent basis and in return, you will receive a competitive salary.

About the role:

As our Quality Inspector, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the quality and integrity of our products. Your primary responsibility will be to conduct inspections and tests on engineering components to ensure they meet the required specifications and quality standards. You will collaborate closely with the Engineering, Warehouse, Operations and Procurement teams to identify and address any quality issues, ensuring that all products leaving our facility meet the highest standards of performance and safety.

Working hours: 40 hours per week Monday to Friday

Key responsibilities as our Quality Inspector will include:

  • Perform visual inspections, measurements, and functional tests in accordance with established procedures and industry standards.
  • Inspect incoming materials and components to ensure they meet the required specifications and quality standards.
  • Conduct in-process periodical audits to identify any process deviations.
  • Monitor, evaluate and report on inspection KPI’s, identifying areas of improvement in quality and efficiency.
  • Document inspection results accurately and maintain detailed records of findings.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, procurement, operations to address and resolve any quality-related issues.
  • Participate in root cause analysis investigations to identify the underlying causes of non-conformance and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide guidance and support to other colleagues to ensure adherence to quality standards and procedures.
  • Stay updated with industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Take control of the internal calibration register and make sure all equipment is tested at scheduled intervals.

Skills & Attributes we're looking for in our Quality Inspector:

  • Technical degree or certification in a related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a QA Inspector or similar role, preferably in the automotive industry or a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of engineering components, fasteners, their specifications, and quality requirements.
  • Comprehensive grasp of inspection methods, encompassing visual scrutiny, measurements, and functional testing.
  • Skilled in the utilisation of measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, and gauges
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management system standards is a plus.
  • Attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills.
