Quality Control Inspector

We are seeking a Quality Control Inspector to oversee all aspects of parts quality before releasing to production. As a senior team member, you will work closely with the Quality Control Coordinator and other departments, ensuring the highest standards of quality are maintained. This role requires an individual with a keen eye for detail, exceptional communication skills, and a proactive approach.

Day to Day of the Role:
  • Inspect incoming parts using inspection equipment against technical drawings, including dimensional and cosmetic checks.
  • Maintain accurate quality control documentation for traceability and part history.
  • Become the in-house expert for our Hexagon CMM, including programming and training team members.
  • Collaborate with the design team to understand critical dimensions of key parts.
  • Understand and apply the company’s quality control strategy, including the nuances beyond simple pass/fail criteria.
  • Work with the Supplier Coordinator to manage relationships with suppliers and understand their role in the company’s strategy.
  • Visit key suppliers to discuss quality issues and understand their manufacturing processes.
  • Communicate effectively with suppliers to prevent recurring faults, and provide detailed reports on findings.
  • Ensure all rejected parts are documented correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Manage stock movements of parts through the MRP system and ensure parts are labelled correctly after inspection.
  • Provide feedback to the production and design teams to improve parts and processes.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in operating a CMM (desirable).
  • Excellent communication skills across various platforms including face-to-face, telephone, and email.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes to aid in inspection and supplier feedback.
  • Strong organisational skills and good housekeeping practices.
  • Ability to work efficiently as part of a team with minimal supervision.
  • Analytical mindset with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Confidence in making decisions regarding the pass/fail status of parts.
  • Immediate availability is preferred.
