An experienced Quality Engineer who has strong experience within Quality tools like 8D, investigations, FMEA’s PPAP and SPC is required for a large and reputable Manufacturing business based in Plymouth. Our client is able to offer a long term and progressive career within a Multi-National organisation.

Main Duties:

  • To work in line with Quality, Safety and Environmental Policies, Procedures and Instructions.
  • To identify performance trends and potential and actual non-conformances in products and processes through data gathering, analysis, monitoring and auditing.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Decision making: To stop production, drive containment action and take corrective or preventive action and to ensure effective and timely defect management.
  • To propose and implement robust and cost effective solutions and improvements.
  • To carry out audits, inspections, measurements and tests in a timely and accurate manner.
  • To actively support the implementation, maintenance, performance and improvement of the Quality Management System by applying appropriate quality tools and techniques.
  • To work independently and as a team member in conducting Quality Engineering activities.
  • Clear, concise, accurate and data driven reporting of results, trends actions and progress.
  • To develop effective relationships with other team members and departments, suppliers and customer personnel as appropriate to facilitate product and service quality.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools for quality engineering.
  • To provide training support and to overcome barriers to quality improvement.
  • Customer performance monitoring, trend analysis & reporting
  • Process Control and training shop floor staff
  • Gauging methods development for process including Process data, trends and issues
  • APQP - Support NPI projects & Customer PPAP
  • Gather shop floor SPC and Dim Check Sheet data, trend and give quick feedback and document control
  • Liaise with and support other functions with document management (training)
  • Conduct internal process and systems audits & Assist 2nd and 3rd party external audits and associated actions
  • Quick feedback to production on issues from internal and customer etc. and liaison with Production to resolve issues
  • Support first off training and Scrap reduction project / BOS

Education:

  • Minimum of BTEC - Ideally a HNC in Engineering/Science
  • Experience of Quality Tools
  • Computer Literate & Excellent communication skills
  • Ideally Lean trained
  • Experience within a Precision Engineering environment
