Qualified Social Worker  - Team Manager
Location: Southwest
Pay rate:  £42 per hour

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and dedicates Team Manager to lead  a well established and stable team with a supportive line management team. With the advice, supervision and support of a Service Manager or Head of Service, the Team Manager manages a statutory service to children in need, including children in need of protection and children in care, in line with Working Together and Our Safeguarding Children Partnership continuum of need/threshold policy as well as a range of other approved policies, procedures and practice guidance related to the role and function of the team/service.
The Multi-Agency referral unit is the front door for requests for social work support and is co-located with the Early help Hub, thus offering an integrated and proportionate response to requests for help and support.
  • Working within short timescales and the ability to scrutinize and analyse complex information under pressure at times.
  • A solid understanding of working with thresholds and assessment of need in order to identify the early identification of risk, harm and need.
  • Experience in making timely, co-ordinated and proportionate responses to ensure the safety of children.
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence when speaking to parents, young people and professionals in order to gather and assess information to aid decision making.
  • Working closely with children of all ages and with parents in often extremely stressful and challenging circumstances.
  • Developing close and constructive working relationships with a variety of professionals. An understanding of the need to recognise the importance of partnership working to safeguard children is essential.
  • The ability to work at pace, prioritising where required in order to ensure that the children’s front door is safely managed and children and families access services in a timely way.
  • Previous experience of leading and managing a busy front line children’s services team
  • Demonstrable understanding and interest in front door children’s social work. 
The role is initially for three months with the possibility of being reviewed for extension.

Working in accordance with social care legislation and local government requirements, informed by the values and principles of social care; you will be supporting in the delivery of person centred, safe and effective social care services. Using your professional knowledge and experience you’ll make assessments and decisions about the most appropriate interventions. Applying your significant Social Work experience and excellent communication skills you’ll establish and maintain relationships with service users and other agencies to ensure services meet identified needs. You’ll be committed to ensure positive and sustainable results of your interventions. Using best practice, you’ll strive to provide the best outcomes for children. Most importantly however, you’ll have a passion for supporting children and their families to ensure that they thrive and flourish. Our priority is to protect the most vulnerable and to be as efficient as possible.

Perfect candidate will be:
  • Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
  • Experienced in working with children and families including those from vulnerable groups.
  • Creative, flexible and forward thinking in approach.
  • Knowledgeable of Child Protection legislation and understanding of child protection issues.
  • Constantly striving for continuous improvement to provide the best outcomes for children.
  • Able to use excellent mediation and negotiation skills on behalf of service users.
  • Highly skilled at building meaningful relationships with children and families to engage them in assessments and plans
  • Committed to providing our service users with a high-quality service
  • Experienced in working in a multi-disciplinary, interagency basis
  • 4 Years plus Qualified
In this role you will:
  • Use skills, knowledge, and experience to make full assessment of risks protection and social care needs.
  • Manage an agreed case load.
  • Use specialist communication skills to achieve optimum outcomes for service users.
  • Devise individual care plans, taking account of diversity and promoting dignity and empowerment.
  • Offer advice and support to unqualified staff and students to assist development.
