Job Advert: Fostering Team (FT)

Location: Lambeth, London

Salary: PO3 £44,862 rising in annual increments to £48,063 per annum incl. LW

Employment Type: Permanent / Full Time / Hybrid working

Are you passionate about providing safe and nurturing environments for children who are unable to live with their birth families? Do you have experience in fostering services and a commitment to supporting foster carers and children in their care? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our Fostering Team (FT) at Lambeth Council.

As a Social Worker in our Fostering Team, you will play a vital role in recruiting, assessing, and supporting foster carers to provide loving and stable homes for children in need. Working closely with foster carers, children, families, and other professionals, you will ensure that placements are suitable, safe, and responsive to the individual needs of each child.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, assess, and support foster carers to provide high-quality care to children in need.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of prospective foster carers, ensuring they meet the necessary standards and requirements.
  • Provide ongoing support and supervision to foster carers, helping them to navigate challenges and access relevant training and resources.
  • Work collaboratively with social work teams, children, families, and other agencies to ensure the well-being and development of children in foster care.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures related to fostering services.

Requirements:

  • Relevant social work qualification (Social Work England).
  • Experience in fostering services or working with looked-after children.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with foster carers, children, families, and professionals.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, guidance, and best practices in fostering services.
  • Commitment to promoting the rights and well-being of children and young people.
