Role Purpose:

The Quality control department ensures that all aspects of the manufacture of products are performed in a controlled manner and meet commitments to regulatory bodies and the requirements of current Good Manufacturing Practice. The laboratory teams work as part of the site value streams alongside the business centres to ensure that manufactured products are compliance and fit for purpose. The QC Lead Analyst is part of the managerial support structure for laboratory shift teams and day to day operations. A high level of scientific understanding is critical to rapid support and problem solving.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

• Lead by example, on a technical and planning bases; bringing to life the company expectations for all direct reports, setting clean annual and short term goals for development and performance
• Assist the team managers is coordinating team development
• Drive short term laboratory excellence, bringing a continuous improvement mindset to life
• Manage day to day planning of routine activities to ensure appropriate resource will remain available across the 3 business areas, Raw Materials, Bulk Chemistry and Microbiology – provide support where appropriate to meet requirements
• Actively participate in a living safety program, taking full accountability for all workers within the area
• Lead on short-term projects with cross-functional working and improvements
• Support laboratory activities where required
• Provides an escalation point for business centres, OQ and Logistics teams to ensure all short-medium term objectives are met
• Oversee the process for lab investigations, ensuring to continually build team capability to support accurate and timely investigations
• Ensures documents within area of control are current and always audit ready. Ensure ALCOA+ principles can be met throughout all documentation
• Deputise for shift manager as required while working shift

Scope of Accountability:

• Ensure compliance with site lead/lag measures for product release
• Technical expert in one of either microbiology or analytical chemistry

Required Skills & Experience:

• ?Educated to degree level or equivalent in Science
• Excellent technical experience in one of Ion Chromatography, Gas Chromatography or Microbiology
• Previous industrial laboratory experience; with evidence of coaching and mentoring
• Good knowledge of manufacturing plant and processes
• COSHH and/or Risk assessment trained
• Aware of the local management systems and standards required for the role
• Computer literate, competent in use of Microsoft and SAP
