Based in any of the firm’s offices nationwide, an ambitious global law firm has a great opportunity for a strong bids specialist to take on an autonomous and influential role managing and constantly improving the pursuits' function and global processes for pursuits.

Operating as a respected and proactive internal consultant and project manager, the Pursuits Manager will coach partners and others involved in winning new business in the art of developing competitive, commercial propositions and will be responsible for promoting quality of thinking and story telling that truly adds value to each pitch proposition, differentiates the firm from competitors and improves win rates. This senior level role within the global Business Development department will involve responding to incoming requests, as well as coaching lawyers on proactive targeting and the end-to-end pursuit process. Managing the effective adoption of and compliance with a 'best practice' pursuit model, the successful applicant will work closely with the Head of Pursuits to coach and upskill the pursuits team and global BD colleagues, so they in turn can provide tailored high-quality advice, challenge and support to partners and their teams. This will be provided throughout the entire client journey, from promoting pre-pursuit proactive client engagement, through to conducting client debriefs and assisting with contract implementation and honouring of pursuit promises. The role holder will also work closely with global BD teams to promote a "pipeline" culture and prepare for new and renewal opportunities and engage the Clients & Markets team to motivate partners pre-tender and to provide support during the pursuit process with client knowledge and content drafting.

To fulfil the requirements of the role, you will need strong experience of business development in a pursuits or sales role, preferably in the professional services sector, combined with a good understanding of best practice in and a proven track record of winning new business through pitches and tenders. Practical and hands-on, yet able to take a proactive, imaginative and strategic view, it is essential that the Pursuits Manager is highly organised and able to prioritise workloads, managing multiple projects and negotiating deadlines. Other prerequisites for success will include well-developed interpersonal and coaching skills, the gravitas to influence at partner level and strong people management skills. A good understanding of the insurance industry is also highly desirable.
