My client are specialists in fully supported hard metal roofing, facades, cladding systems, and flat roofing for all types of projects. Working with some of the UKs largest manufacturers systems, including inverted hotmelt, built-up-felt warm roofs, single ply and cold applied liquid plastics, they are looking for a buyer to join their growing team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the procurement of goods and services according to company need and demands of our Roofing and cladding requirements. You will be working in close collaboration with the Project Managers, design team and procurement managers to ensure the procurement and timely delivery of goods and services required by the business. The ability to negotiate competitive prices, commercial terms and ensure on time and budget delivery is essential for this role.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent negotiation skills and having roofing or cladding buying experience. Experience and technical skills in construction and procurement, such as the

ability to read construction drawings & undertake take-offs would be helpful.

We are looking for a commercially aware and a proficient negotiator. Ensuring that all materials

are purchased at the best price and are delivered on time so that projects continue without

interruption. Liaising with preferred and specified suppliers, you will manage the competing demands of long-lead items and real-time demand from our construction sites.

You will have control of Purchase administration and reporting, ensuring that all transactions are completed and recorded correctly. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, to

collaborate with site personnel, design teams, suppliers, subcontractors and clients, will be required. You will be self-motivated and comfortable working within a fast-paced, friendly team environment. This role may be suitable for an individual with previous trades experience.

The Duties:

Daily tasks will change depending on the day and the project but can consist of:

  • ? Procurement and scheduling of products, materials, plant, and equipment
  • Ensuring purchases offer best value.
  • Monitoring and reporting of price increases, updating internal spread sheets.
  • Tracking orders and proactively addressing any failed or late deliveries
  • Arranging the return of non-conforming products
  • Maintaining and developing the supply chain
  • Identification of new products
  • Processing of purchase ledger records.
  • Review the credentials of potential new suppliers and ensure that suppliers are compliant.
  • Identify potential supply problems and solutions.

The Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years Purchasing experience in roofing, cladding, or an aligned industry.
  • Experience and/or education in procurement and inventory management.
  • Working knowledge of computer programs for word processing, email, and spreadsheets.
  • Able to read and interpret project drawings and specifications.
  • Proven track record in best-value procurement ensuring timely on-time delivery in line with project programs and budget.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills to optimise pricing and commercial terms.
  • Ability to forward plan for multiple site projects and prioritise workload across long-lead and real time demands.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills - strong relationship builder and communicator.
