We are proud to be recruiting for a Purchasing Assistant to join our client who specialises in sourcing IT Hardware and Software. This role would be perfect for someone with some experience within Procurement already and looking to build on it further!


Based on site in Northampton, the role would be responsible for ordering products from suppliers, liaising with suppliers and managing the PO's and invoice queries for the products. You would be learning further procurement knowledge and would be able to gain more responsibility over time too.
The ideal candidate would have experience within Procurement, ideally liaising with suppliers and handling PO's and invoices.

Working hours: Salary: circa £23,000 - £25,000

Working Hours: Monday to Thursday: 9:00 am - 5:30 pm (1-hour lunch break), Friday: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm (30-minute lunch break)

Responsibilities:

  • Ordering bespoke hardware and software from suppliers.
  • Raising and expediting purchase orders to meet the demands of the business.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for suppliers, engaging via phone and email to coordinate delivery schedules, manage orders, and handle returns.
  • Resolve invoice discrepancies and ensure timely receipt of invoices.
  • Cover for other procurement staff during absences.
  • ERP administrative tasks: setting up of new products, setting commodity codes and populating data on products.


Ideal candidate:

  • Technical understanding of computers, including specifications and industry trends.
  • Strong grasp of purchasing and supply chain processes.
  • Proficient in IT and computer skills, particularly Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to foster and maintain positive working relationships both internally and externally.
  • Aptitude for quick decision-making and using initiative to resolve issues.
  • Exceptional organisational skills with the capability to prioritise tasks effectively.
