Purchase Ledger Clerk
  • Annual Salary: £20,000 - £30,000 (depending on experience)
  • Location: Gillingham Area
  • Job Type: Full-time

We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Purchase Ledger Clerk to join our finance team within the construction industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the company’s purchase ledger, ensuring accuracy in recording and paying out funds, and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Processing purchase invoices and credit notes accurately and efficiently.
  • Reconciling supplier statements to purchase ledger accounts and resolving discrepancies.
  • Preparing payment runs and ensuring timely payments to suppliers.
  • Liaising with suppliers and resolving any invoice or payment queries.
  • Assisting with month-end closures and reporting.
  • Maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the finance team with ad hoc tasks.
  • Collaborating with the procurement team to ensure purchase orders are matched correctly.
  • Ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a Purchase Ledger Clerk or in a similar finance role.
  • Strong understanding of purchase ledger processes.
  • Excellent numerical skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office, particularly Excel.
  • Good organisational and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • AAT qualification or equivalent is desirable but not essential.
