Job Title: Public Health Officer
Location: Bedfordshire, United Kingdom
Contract: 6-month contract
Salary: £300/day
Working Arrangements: Hybrid, 1 day per week in the office

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyse and interpret data, communicating complex information effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Produce evidence-based reports with recommendations to enhance health and wellbeing, reduce inequalities, and achieve best value.
  • Develop Health Needs Assessments, Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) chapters, Director of Public Health Reports, and systematic evidence reviews to inform decision-making.
  • Access and appraise evidence through systematic methods and engagement with the research community, drawing appropriate conclusions.
  • Manage a demanding workload, prioritising tasks to meet tight deadlines.

Key Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Demonstrable expertise in epidemiology, statistics, and data analysis.
  • Experience conducting health needs assessments, evidence reviews, and research appraisals.
  • Proficiency in data linkage, extraction, manipulation, and visualisation using software such as R, Python, PowerBI, ArcGIS, WordPress, etc.
  • Strong report writing, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects and competing priorities effectively.
