Location: Bromley, London
Contract: 6 months, £15.50/hr (Hybrid)

We are currently seeking a talented individual to join our team as a Public Affairs Officer for a local authority in Bromley.
The Role:
As a Public Affairs Officer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the communications strategy for various council services, with a particular focus on Housing, Planning, Regeneration, and Strategic Property. Key responsibilities include:
- Undertaking duties with minimal supervision, demonstrating initiative and self-reliance.
- Developing and implementing comprehensive communications strategies and action plans.
- Researching, writing, and producing materials tailored to diverse audiences, both internal and external.
- Executing the communications plan across various channels, including press releases, web content, leaflets, newsletters, magazine articles, and social media.
- Creating engaging video content when necessary, with the willingness to learn and develop editing skills.
- Collaborating with the Public Affairs Executive, the Head of Service, and other team members in a dynamic team environment.
- Building relationships and liaising with stakeholders at all levels, including Heads of Service, directors, Portfolio holders, ward councillors, and external partners.

- Keenness to take on responsibility and eagerness to learn new skills.
- Self-starter mentality with the ability to work independently on delegated projects.
- Exceptional writing skills with a keen eye for grammar, spelling, and accuracy.
- Proficiency in taking reportage photographs, especially for news releases, magazine articles, and social media platforms.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team.
- Strategic thinking and good news sense to drive impactful communications initiatives.
- Strong attention to detail in researching stories and delivering outputs.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise tasks to meet tight deadlines.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and experience in crafting content for them.
- Knowledge of working in a political environment and experience in responding to media inquiries would be advantageous.
- Previous experience in a similar role across various communication disciplines is preferred.
