British Gypsum is looking for a Project Specification Manager to join their team. This role is based in London.

The purpose of this role is:

  • Managing, influencing, and providing technical support to prioritised commercial projects.
  • Engaging and consulting with key specifiers, Specialist engineers/consultants, main contractors, and their related supply chains to influence and agree a full system proposition in line with the company's commercial and specification strategies and objectives.
  • Feedback market and customer insight to inform, support and challenge our internal and external stakeholders both technically and commercially.

What we're looking for:

  • Understanding of technical specification documents, construction drawings and details
  • Understanding of the construction process - To especially understand construction project delivery methods and associated decision-making influencers
  • Strong Commercial knowledge and understanding
  • Effective Presentation and articulation Skills
  • Networking and influencing Skills
  • Collaboration skills to maximise influence and impact
  • Great Communication and Relationship Building Skills
  • Data accuracy and recording
  • Good IT skills

Role responsibilities:

Sales strategy

  • Implement a sales strategy into technical sales activity to create clear articulation of the technical value proposition. To engage and motivate the customer and convert opportunities into profitable product and system sales.

Technical influence & leverage

  • Implement the company's commercial and technical sales strategy by ensuring our technical and commercial capabilities are articulated and leveraged with our trusted partners.
  • To provide commercially competitive and technically compliant system solutions within prioritised projects in a manner to support the company's brand values and reputation.

Product and service enhancement

  • Contribute proactively to the improvement of existing and the development of new products and services in a manner to enable market acceptance and penetration.
  • Identify and manage the market opportunities for new sales products and services to achieve the company's sales objectives.

Networking and relationships - internal

  • Creates collaborative and proactive relationships internally with all departments and group companies where appropriate to ensure activities are aligned, minimising duplication, utilising expertise, and maximising efficiency.

Networking and relationships - external

  • Creates collaborative and proactive relationships externally with all relevant stakeholder to support their business and gain maximum influence over their product and system choice.
  • Identify and create new project opportunities to maximise the full system sell.
  • To manage our internal and external stakeholders to ensure full project conversion to order.

Technical Competence

  • Develops their own technical ability in line with business strategy and market requirements.
  • Supports colleagues to develop technical knowledge and capabilities by sharing best practice.
  • Supports external stakeholder by sharing technical knowledge and expertise.

Health & Safety

  • Drives a proactive culture of safe working practices and wellbeing across all business activities to ensure that colleagues are engaged by looking after their own safety and the safety of others.
  • Challenge non safe working behaviours that do not comply with company health and safety behaviours
