First Achieve's Engineering Division have an excellent opportunity for a Project Engineer to join an established and growing company in the Edinburgh region. Our client is an international manufacturer, dedicated to defence industries world-wide.

This role will work closely with the Design Manager, and you will be expected to work with minimal supervision. You'll be managing the execution of cost effect design solutions. You will also be involved in the creation of clearly defined work packages for engineers within the design team. Effectively managing risk and engineering change throughout the design process. Effectively communicating and maintaining positive working relationships across the business.

  • Salary in the region of £41-50,000 per annum
  • 4 or 5 Day working week - The choice to work your hours over 4 or 5 days.

Duties will Include:

  • Provide innovative design solutions within timescale and budget
  • Ensure thorough project awareness throughout all stages of development
  • Take responsibility for the engineering content of a variety of marine based project
  • Ensure that product costs are established and optimised throughout development
  • Solve problems during equipment build and test in the workshop
  • Provide service support
  • Identify threats and risks to the project schedule delivery

Essential skills, experience and knowledge requirements:

The successful candidate must have:

  • A minimum 4 years of design experience in industrial, marine or subsea applications for a degree holder, or if unqualified, 10 years of relevant experience.
  • A degree, apprenticeship or equivalent qualification within mechanical engineering.
  • Experience of line management.
  • AN understanding of cost profiling and negotiation.
  • Experience with solid modelling design tools including structural analysis using finite element modelling.
  • A flair for problem solving and innovation, and a flexible approach to work activities.
  • A background in defence or subsea engineering.
  • A track record of creating and checking high quality production drawings.
  • Experience using Creo, Creo Simulate and ANSYS.
