Job Title: Project Accountant (Part Time 21.75 hours p/w)
Location Birmingham (Hybrid)
Salary: £48,000 (Pro rata)

Position Overview:

We are seeking a talented and driven Project Accountant to provide strong financial support for one of our clients’ project, with a total budget of £4 million. Reporting to the Senior Finance & Procurement Manager, this role requires meticulous budget management and the provision of timely and accurate financial reporting to key stakeholders, including the Leadership Team.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as a trusted business partner to Heads Of and other colleagues, fostering strong relationships and ensuring transparency in financial matters.
  • Drive high-quality financial and commercial performance by gaining a detailed understanding of the programme.
  • Lead and participate in regular stakeholder meetings, providing comprehensive updates on project financials.
  • Produce timely financial reports for Heads Of and stakeholders, offering insightful analysis and commentary to support decision-making.
  • Challenge financial forecasts to ensure accuracy of spend profiles and alignment with project goals.
  • Chair the monthly Finance Working Group, engaging external stakeholders.
  • Prepare monthly claims and manage spending profiles to meet agreed targets.
  • Continuously review, maintain, and improve monthly project cost forecasting by activity.
  • Maintain accurate budget records through a formal change control process.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the Procurement team to support budget journey through procurement.
  • Provide support to the wider Finance team and drive continuous improvement of finance processes.
  • Ensure full substantiation of all project accruals.
  • Fulfill ad-hoc reporting requests as needed.


Requirements:

  • Proven experience in financial management and reporting, preferably within a project-based environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and credibility with stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and compliance.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in financial software and MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Experience in procurement processes and budget management is desirable.
  • Experience working with Advanced Financials
  • Excellent MS Excel skills.
