Avencia Consulting are recruiting on behalf of a Bespoke & Speciality Insurer based in the City who are looking to hire a Project Accountant on a 6 month contract basis.

The role

Reporting to the Group Reporting Manager, the Project Accountant will play a pivotal role in supporting a project aimed at consolidating the Group's financial data in Anaplan. As a knowledgeable individual in accounting processes and financial systems, you will contribute to the successful implementation of this project and the subsequent phases of dashboarding and Management Information (MI) development. Your expertise will streamline financial processes and enhance decision-making capabilities for our organisation.

Key accountabilities

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Support:
    • Collaborate with the Finance Systems Support Engineer to ensure that financial data consolidation aligns with accounting standards and best practices.
  1. Dashboard Consultation:
    • Provide expert guidance to the team in designing and developing interactive dashboards that facilitate financial analysis.
  1. Management Information (MI):
    • Offer accounting insights to shape the development of MI tools for in-depth financial analysis.
  1. Accounting Expertise:
    • Utilise your accounting knowledge to support critical analyses within the actuals workspace, covering underwriting, finance, and operational management information.
  1. Integration Oversight:
    • Assist in maintaining the integrity of automated integration between Anaplan and the wider ecosystem through APIs, ensuring financial data accuracy.
  1. Control and Validation Framework:
    • Collaborate with the Finance Systems Support Engineer to establish and maintain a control and validation framework that adheres to accounting standards, internal/external audit requirements, and data integrity.
  1. Stakeholder Collaboration:
    • Support the preparation and automation of key financial analyses for stakeholders, including EXCO and Board reporting, with a focus on accurate accounting data.
  1. System Maintenance:
    • Ensure the smooth operation of financial systems, with emphasis on data accuracy and reliability.
  1. Documentation and Compliance:
    • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of comprehensive process documentation to ensure Anaplan system compliance with accounting standards.
  1. FP&A Alignment:
    • Collaborate with the FP&A team to ensure alignment between actuals and MI workspaces, with a focus on accurate accounting data.

Skills & experience

  • ACCA/ACA/CIMA qualified with 2-5 years of post-qualification experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with financial systems, with a strong focus on Anaplan.
  • Knowledge of accounting standards and processes, with hands-on experience in financial systems.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team, ensuring financial accuracy.
  • Experience in communicating financial information to senior management and key stakeholders.
