Great career opportunity for an experienced Production Manager to join a global company at their manufacturing plant in Nottingham working in the precision engineering sector.

This role of Manufacturing / Production Manager will see you being responsible for all the production sections on site approx. 70 people.

Ideally you are a hands-on manager and enjoy walking around the manufacturing sections and being totally involved with the daily decisions and projects and sat at a desk all day!  

Lean / CI is a big area for the site and so a good understanding of this and ideally qualified in Six Sigma or similar would be highly advantageous.

Production Manager responsibilities  

  • Ensuring quality, delivery, costs and safety are met or exceeded.
  • Set and monitor production goals and performance expectations.
  • Maximise machine utilisation in line with company policies and ensure a TPM culture followed.  
  • Cost centre financial management and cost reductions in line with company objectives.
  • Ensure effective communication, coordination and collaboration within the production and other associated areas takes place.
  • Liaise with the Supply Chain team on Make v Buy decisions.
  • Occasionally liaise with global teams to implement new technologies into the site.
  • Conduct personal appraisals and talent development plans.  

Production Manager required experience

  • Degree qualified would be advantageous, but not essential.
  • High level of experience in a precision manufacturing (ideally CNC)
  • 5+ years team / people management experience.
  • Good understanding of production planning, quality, engineering, lean, finance, HR and IT.
  • Working knowledge and experience of CI / Lean Manufacturing practices and principles.
  • High analytical skills and the ability to develop and initiate required action plans.
