The Procurement recruitment team at McGregor Boyall are working with a client based in the heart of Kent.

If you have Procurement Category Management experience and based within easy access to West Malling on the outskirts of Maidstone, we would love to hear from you.

This Category Manager would benefit from having own transport, however our client is accessible via other forms of public transport, so therefore not essential.

The role is hybrid and would see the post holder work from the office between 2- 3 days per week, the days could be open for change on a weekly basis subject to workload.

As a Category Manager, or Senior Category Officer you will be highly adept at seamlessly threading the intricacies of Professional Services and best practice Procurement management.

Please be aware that we'd still like to hear from you if you are at Category Officer level, our client is happy to consider some form of training and upskilling for the right candidate.

Some key objectives for this role:

Assist the head of Procurement with day-to-day management of the Professional Services category function, helping to drive continuous improvement via services that are highly customer focused, flexible and heavily results orientated; you will endeavour to maintain strong cost effectiveness whilst all the time helping the department to achieve its strategic goals & vision.
Core Responsibilities:

  • Help to establish metrics to measure performance.
  • Looking to ensure documentation and certification are completed and CRM is updated to assist with business planning.
  • Writing and drafting business cases to present to senior stakeholders.
  • You will oversee and lead on PS tendering projects and build in effective procurement strategy in accordance with standing orders and UK & EU requirements.
  • Help to support wider operational teams ensuring all pre-tender documentation is authorised in a timely manner.
  • Present Professional Services category and supply chain strategies to the executive leadership team and help to build-out strategic plans.
  • Look at ways to achieve a sustainable cost reduction across the Professional Services procurement category.
  • Assist with the management of the end-to-end Third-Party life cycle, including sourcing, contracting, ongoing supplier relationship management and offboarding activities when necessary.



To qualify for this role, some areas to consider:

  • Qualified or interest in working towards CIPS.
  • Commercial experience in Professional Services as a Category Specialist.
  • Some wider category experience also considered, FM is useful.
  • Excellent attention to detail and highly organised
  • The ability to commute and work easily in the Kent area.
  • Could be currently working at Category Officer level but looking to step up.
  • We will consider candidates who are both immediately available or on extended notice periods up to 12 weeks with current employer.
