Our Digital & IT Category team are seeking an experienced Procurement Category Manager to join their team. As a Category Manager, you’ll lead a delegated category portfolio to implement strategic sourcing and strong partner management, lower costs to deliver savings targets, and strengthen existing relationships with key suppliers.

This position is predominantly home based, but there is an expectation to attend meetings at our Salford office once/ twice per month.

What you'll be doing:

  • Developing, implementing, monitoring, and reviewing procurement strategies for allocated sub-categories through detailed demand/market analysis, ensuring continual improvement and innovation in service delivery
  • Delivering on a portfolio of projects as agreed with client collaborators, meeting expectations and timelines
  • Maximising contract compliance and undertakes procurement activities in accordance with PCR2015 legislation/ commercial/ contract law/ Standing Financial
  • Supports in the delivery of departmental revenue targets ensuring opportunities for growth are identified and implemented
  • Supports the uptake of the portfolio across the landscape, working alongside the wider teams including: Innovation, Implementation, Marketing and Consultancy
  • Advise on commercial and contractual issues from initial scoping through to contract award and contract management

What you’ll bring:

  • Experience and/or knowledge of working with the Public Sector procurement
  • Knowledge of UK Public Contracts Regulations, Contract Terms and Conditions & Policies, Procedures and Processes
  • Knowledge and/or experience of the IT market and its supply chains
  • Broad knowledge the tech markets (services, software, hardware)
  • Experience with end to end procurement delivery lifecycle
  • CIPS level 4 and above or working towards

It would be great if you had:

  • General commercial awareness
  • Knowledge of Procurement ERP systems, eSourcing tools and MS Office
  • Knowledge of working closely with multiple Government organisations and external third party suppliers
  • Awareness of procurement compliance to instruct wider team/clients
