I am recruiting for a Procurement professional to cover a fixed term contract of one year maternity leave.  This is a full time position and offers hybrid working.  

Duties include: 

  • Working with budget holders on significant purchases, to develop specifications and procurement processes that embed the principles of the procurement strategy.  
  • Achieving good value for money and contributing to sustainability outcomes 
  • Assisting the Procurement Services Business Partner in communicating and achieving customer buy-in to the Procurement Strategy.  
  • Under guidance of department management, providing advice and guidance on procurement matters in accordance with our established procedures and regulations.  
  • Assisting in facilitating cross functional teams in targeted reviews to improve purchasing practices.  
  • Assisting in developing mechanisms to monitor and improve the performance of suppliers.  
  • Evaluating supplier responses, arranging supplier presentations and related administration in conjunction with the Procurement Services Business Partner and department managers.  
  • Under the direction of the department managers, developing experience in writing supplier agreements after procurement exercises have been completed.  
  • Assist In monitoring performance of existing contracts by arranging contract reviews Key Performance Indicators.  
  • Curating and presenting management and financial information required to deliver procurement activity and reporting 
  • Analysing purchasing needs 
  • Completing statutory returns and external requests for information 
  • Developing an understanding of procurement processes and regulations in order to give advice 
  • Point of contact for straight forward procurement process queries 



Requirements of the role: 

  • Experience working with stakeholders and budget holders
  • Experience of researching and data collection on expenditure and procurement activity
  • Experience of selecting appropriate methods and formats to present data and information
  • IT literate
  • Excellent organisational skills 
  • Ability to produce and deliver report writing, research papers and project plans 
  • Experience procuring within public sector 

CIPS would be an advantage, however not essential and if the role was to result in a permanent position, study support is often offered.  

The duties of this post may require occasional travel and notice would be given for this.
