Salary: £60k - £75k p/annum

The Role

Reed Scientific have an amazing opportunity for a Process Chemist with a strong background in Personal Care and / or Pharmaceuticals to work within a team of like-minded problem solvers, alongside our client's Research, Design and Development team.

The Process Chemist would be responsible for leading process development work across several project categories for Global product launches, collaborating with multiple stake holders.  They will develop and transfer processes and formulations to key partners who are located worldwide. The Process Chemist will design and lead plant trials and resolve formulation and process issues throughout production lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for setting up new best-in class process systems and operations.
• Lead Process Development work on new product innovations, from small scale to full scale manufacturing and filling trials. 
• Design and own experimental plans to generate process flow transformation understanding which can be used to define and recommend process steps and establish product specifications.
• Evaluate contract manufacturer capabilities
• Write technical reports for Global distribution including Standard Operating Procedures, raising of Capital Expenditure requests for lab/pilot plant equipment.
• Use knowledge and experience to technically appraise and audit potential 3rd party manufacturing capabilities to GMP and global industry standards.

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree in Chemistry or a related discipline, with a chemistry background and industry experience in a Personal Care or Pharmaceutical environment. 
• An understanding of end to end, full-service production of Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) and Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG).
• An understanding of raw materials and ingredient regulation, supply, handling and usage in development and manufacture of Personal Care and Pharmaceutical products 
• Adept with Factory Filling Lines and Product Quality Assurance across packaging types within FMCG, Personal Care or Pharmaceutical products
