Kingscroft have been asked to recruit for a Process Chemist and Technologist to work for a specialist high volume manufacturer. As the ideal candidate you will be an experienced industrial chemist with knowledge of rubber, managing the materials and formulations. You should be capable of adding crucial knowledge through the development, testing, production and QA phases.



Role:

• The Process Chemist & Technologist will be responsible for the managing the materials and formulations used in the standard production processes on the site.

• Working closely with our production team and material suppliers’ key areas will be in ensuring consistency in processing of materials and managing variation. They will also act as support for the Laboratory function.

• Working closely NPI and QA functions will act as functional expert in support of producing samples and controlling material stocks.

Key Objectives:

• Focus on ensuring the management of materials on site with respect to shelf life, supporting production on understanding when issues are identified.

• Working closely with QA when material fails to meet requirements and its disposal/rejection. The manipulation and blending of materials to support production/supply chain due to shortfalls in supply.

• Ensure the business manages its IP regarding formulations, so as we can lead in the marketplace.

• Support the NPI and QA teams with functional expertise in the production of samples to support the business in developing new opportunities.

• Develop deep understanding of the current process technology which we have on site and how to get the best out of our materials when processing to ensure good quality and low waste/scrap.

• Work on concepts to reuse and recycle our materials and waste.

Responsibilities:

• Managing rubber compound on site from a Technical functional aspect to ensure it is available and suitable for production requirements.

• Assisting in the development of formulations, and the measurement of the physical and mechanical performance of the resulting material

• Supporting with process and material functional skills and knowledge the production of samples.

• Work both internally and externally with key parties to reduce, reuse and recycle scrap and waste material.

• Take active role including project management of the introduction of new processes into manufacturing.

• To undertake any other projects where your technical expertise is required by the business. These to include Environmental and Health & Safety.

• Provide support for the laboratory function in carrying out testing of materials and product.
