Principal Lawyer - Commercial and Contracts

Sandwell Council seek a Commercial Lawyer to join their team in a senior capacity as Principal Commercial Lawyer.

This role will see you playing a key role in setting strategic goals for the team and advising on complex multi-million-pound procurement and contract activities.

The position would be ideally suited to a Commercial Lawyer with strong technical and communication skills who is looking to take the next step in their career. In return, the position offers hybrid working opportunities as well as a generous benefits package.

The role:

  • Advise on a range of contract and procurement activities
  • Ensuring legal compliance and manage risk for key projects
  • Assist in the management of Law and Governance Services
  • Identify legal risks associated with multi-million pound projects
  • Propose strategies to effectively mitigate risk
  • Supervise and assist in the supervision of other team members

About you:

  • Qualified Solicitor or Barrister
  • Abilities commensurate with at least five years' PQE
  • Experience in supervising and managing others
