Principal Hydraulic Modeller - £68,000 - Remote

Our utilities client is currently seeking a Principal Hydraulic Modeller to join their team in Worthing, but can be on a remote basis with the odd visit into the office. As a Principal Hydraulic Modeller, you will be providing technical modelling expertise in Wastewater to support design, construction, and asset operations. You will primarily be responsible to develop, embed and drive efficiency, consistency, and innovative ways of working to provide exceptional service to customers, stakeholders and the wider business. In this senior role with your Chartership, you will coach, lead and train your team members, which includes managing a team of graduates, apprentices and student seeking work experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Delivering technical training, coaching, and mentoring, demonstrating technical leadership and spearheading technical advancements within the team.
  • Utilising models for root cause analysis, enhance understanding and challenge solutions, provide system operation insights, communicate risks, and meet business and stakeholder needs.
  • Ensuring modelling outputs are reliable by focusing on quality delivery.
  • Create TOTEX (Total Expenditure) solutions to aid delivery and operational teams in exceeding Southern Water's goals.
  • Applying modelling results to assist stakeholders in decision-making, offer a critiqued modelling approach for design teams, and manage project delivery risks through team engagement.
  • Encouraging the improvement of technical quality and confidence in modelling outputs continuously for your own and team development
  • Actively engage with stakeholders, building and maintaining strong internal networks within the business.

About you:

  • You will have an excellent knowledge of hydraulics with practical understanding of option buildability.
  • Proven experience in leading, mentoring and developing team members you will have strong technical expertise and background to demonstrate breadth and depth of subject, owning achievement of professional qualification or Chartership in CIWEM.
  • It is essential for you to have educated to a Degree level in Civil or Environment management or equivalent level of experience being a practitioner in InfoWorks ICM, Risk Master and InfoAsset Manager, MapInfo & ArcGIS with demonstrable experience in model build, verification, historical verifications, river modelling, water quality modelling and solution development.
  • Ability to interrogate data in a Microsoft Excel environment with Visual Basic programming skills with strong attention to detail is key as you will be required to create and present reports to senior level stakeholders.
  • It is highly desirable for you to have a good level of understanding of water quality standards.
