Greater London Authority – Principal Audit and Assurance Officer

Job Type: Full-time, Temporary. Hybrid working.

Location: Union Street, SE1 0LL

The Greater London Authority are looking for a Principal Audit and Assurance Officer to join their Portfolio Office within the Skills and Employment directorate on an interim basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for the internal assurance and audit programme, management of audit programmes for adult education service providers, and delivery of high-level records management and data governance services.

Day to Day of the role:
  • Lead and develop a small team to manage a programme of internal assurance on Skills and Employment Unit programmes and projects.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure funding assurance requirements are met and to support audit processes.
  • Manage the provider audit programme, including procurement and contract management of external auditors.
  • Coordinate external audits by funders or other interested parties.
  • Deliver a full range of high-level Records Management and Data Governance services in adherence to GLA policies and procedures.
  • Manage the allegations and learner complaints process, ensuring effective investigation and response.
  • Support other assurance requirements on the Unit’s programmes, such as annual DfE funding assurance responses.
  • Produce periodic reports for the Skills for Londoners Programmes Board and manage the budget for internal and external audit.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in audit and assurance within a similar environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop a team.
  • Experience in contract management of external audit firms.
  • Knowledge of data governance and records management.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to produce and present internal training presentations.
  • Experience in managing budgets for internal and external audit activities.
