Hays are currently recruiting a Principal Engineer to be based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Principal Engineer in the Infrastructure Division, specifically in the water sector, to be based here in Belfast.

Your new role
The Principal Engineer will be working within the Asset & Planning Solutions Practice and would be responsible for developing infrastructure design and managing construction projects under the NEC Suite of Contracts.
Main responsibilities of a Principal Engineer:
*Lead and contribute to the delivery of engineering projects particularly throughout the design development and construction stages to required budget and deadlines.
*Management of construction projects using the NEC suite of contracts including assessment and negotiation of contract changes.
*Client engagement to lead and contribute to discussions on technical civil engineering solutions.
*Oversee teams responsible for design deliverables including engineering design calculation, drawings, contract documentation.
*Ensuring the quality of project work meets the agreed standards and specifications.
*Be client focused and able to develop good working relationships with clients; understand client needs and help propose best value technical solutions to meet project challenges.
*Have a proactive commitment to Health and Safety and good knowledge of CDM requirements.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful for this role, it is essential that you have NEC4 / ECC PM Accreditation and experience in water infrastructure.
You must be educated to Degree level in Civil Engineering and hold a professional qualification, preferably a member of a recognised engineering institution i.e. CEng/IEng etc. You must be able to demonstrate and progress your project management skills, knowledge, and experience. Must have good communication skills, can work in a team environment and must be flexible with work duties.
