Role: Principal Accountant - Financial Reporting

Type: Interim - Fully Remote

Salary: £350 to £550 per day

Location: South West

Sellick Partnership are currently recruiting for a Principal Accountant for our Local Authority client.

The main purpose of the position is to manage the organisations financial year-end reporting needs, including the Strategy & Compliance team's operational requirements and coordination with other teams, services, and stakeholders as needed to produce the annual statement of accounts.

Key responsibilities for the Principal Accountant are;

  • Responsible for creating the Council's and Pension Fund's yearly statutory statement of finances
  • coordinating the Financial Strategy team's fulfilment of the tasks on the year-end schedule
  • Communicating with key stakeholders including partners, asset valuers, and pension fund actuaries
  • Deputising for the Head Accountant in activities related to achieving full accounts closure and reporting
  • reviewing and verifying the completeness and accuracy of the supporting working papers in order to give assurance and information that is prepared for an audit.

The Ideal candidate for the Principal Accountant will have;

  • Qualified Accountant
  • Local Authority experience
  • Audit experience
  • Ability to provide leadership and advice to the team on accounts
  • Stakeholder Management.
