Special Education Teacher

Day to Day of the Role:
  • Lead and teach groups of primary aged pupils with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties.
  • Design and deliver an engaging curriculum that transforms challenging content into life-affirming experiences.
  • Provide high support and high challenge to meet the educational and therapeutic needs of pupils.
  • Work under the direction of the teacher in charge to support the educational development of pupils in a therapeutic way.
  • Collaborate with school-based professionals to carry out programmes of work.
  • Engage with opportunities to support pupils in a variety of activities, utilising state-of-the-art facilities at other sites.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Primary trained teacher with the ability to adapt teaching methods.
  • Strong understanding of the needs of learners with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
  • Proven track record in working with pupils who have significant trauma and attachment issues.
  • Excellent classroom practice, including the use of ICT.
  • High expectations of pupil engagement and achievements.
  • Training in trauma and attachment difficulties.
  • Effective in working with pupils who display challenging behaviours.
  • Enhanced and barred DBS for both Child and Adult.
  • Registered with EWC.
