Primary Teacher

Tradewind Recruitment are currently looking for an experienced Primary Teacher to join a specialist primary school in Islington, North London. You will be teaching children with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH). This is a full time, long-term role starting after Easter for the rest of the academic year.

The School:

The school supports children from Islington primary schools with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs who have been permanently excluded, allocated a place through SEN consultation or via the Securing Education Board on a short-term placement. A high number of pupils here also have an additional diagnosis of autism and/or ADHD. Staff work with pupils whose special educational needs mean that accessing mainstream provision is too difficult for them and they require a higher level of support. Small classrooms of up to six pupils, with a high staff-to-pupil ratio, ensure that children are given the correct support when needed across the school day.

As a primary teacher you will be responsible for the below:

• Planning, delivering and lessons whilst assessing progress
• Working with the support staff to put in place and run interventions
• Support behaviour by following the children's plans
• Updating and setting targets for children.
• Working alongside the SENDCO and other professionals in the support network

To join us and be successful in this role you will ideally need :

• QTS
• Knowledge of, or previous experience working within complex needs or SEND
• An Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional reference checks
• CV must cover the last 10 years of employment history where possible
• Legal right to work in the UK
